Þetta Reddast (thet-ta re-dust)
— Icelandic saying meaning it’s all going to work out in the end or don't worry, it’s going to be okay.

HALLÓ!!!!! I am back from the break I bravely took from writing and sending the BLUGH. I know a missed BLUGH can have huge political and economic consequences, but I have been busy doing big things like getting a buccal massage (it was great but not worth the money in my opinion), doing improv (catch my team, Macbeth, at the Magnet Theater tonight), and going to Iceland🇮🇸!!!

Iceland was amazing. Amazing amazing amazing. I feel very grateful grapefruit that I got to go. Main takeaways: black sand is TRIPPY, Icelandic horses are TOUGH (they basically never go indoors?!), and Icelanders are VERY laid back (🌴island life vibes🌴).

And time marches on!! Getting ready for wedding things. Hanging out with friends, planning and scheming. Let the official record in the Chronicles of Justina show that this is a very busy and fun time in my life. It is important to keep track of this because sometimes life is boring or uneventful or sad and so it’s good to remember that life has phases and chapters and ups and downs and valleys and fjords and horses and fermented shark and vikings and fire and ice and land and ice land and whoops I’m on a flight back to Iceland, expect another BLUGH hiatus.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION

Want to stay warm in Iceland or in other frosty places? Allow me to recommend this coat from tentree (currently on sale!!). It’s keeps you warm but not hot, has SO many pockets, and doesn’t get soaked in rain or snow. I first heard of this brand from my friend, Kat, who was wearing the perfect rain jacket (I bought that too) and I love their products!! Disclaimer: the jacket I wore in Iceland was actually this one (also excellent). Disclaimer 2.0: part of the reason I used this photo was to brag about meeting Betül Tunç at a meet and greet at Anthropologie in Manhattan the day after I got back in Iceland. I was very awkward and shy but she was very ✨🌻🌷🎀👩🏻‍🍳!!

BOOK RECOMMENDATION

So I REALLY enjoyed reading How Iceland Changed the World. It is now very dear to me because it was one of the things that built up to our Iceland trip. Do I recommend that EVERYONE read this book? Not necessarily. But it is very interesting to see the roles Iceland has played in world events! The writing is also funny and engaging, a great book.

What I DO strongly recommend is reading a book or watching a show or listening to music or fill in the blank with consuming art or knowledge of a place you are going to visit. Knowing about the Icelandic parliament’s 1000 year anniversary in 1930 wasn’t necessary for me to enjoy Iceland, but it did make it fun to see and recognize things that I had learned about 🤓.

TO WATCH

Last summer I filmed a musical comedy and it was just released and set loose into the wild last week. It’s even better and funnier than I had imagined which is saying a lot because I knew that Seann Cantatore and her brother, Alex, were going to make something hilarious. It’s ABSURD and SURPRISING and SWEET and I am so proud I got to play the role of Razor. Check out the video here! And check out Seann! And Alex!! They’re the most talented siblings ever!

NOT Ponies, Horses

This is my favorite picture of the horses from our Iceland trip. They look so goofy and cute!! Like truly posing for the picture! Our guide, Miro, took this picture. I have many Iceland recommendations that I will share with anyone who asks, but I have to proactively pitch Miro and his company, Icelandic Roamers. Traveling around and hunting the aurora borealis with him was magical. He knew secret spots to visit and took pics while we explored, allowing us to be more present in the moment and deepen our bond with the Icelandic horses.
