The BLUGH: November 9, 2022

Worry is a horror story we tell ourselves where we exaggerate the probability, imminence, and severity of a perceived threat and minimize our ability to cope with it.
— Donald Robertson

Oh snap oh snap oh snap!! BLUGH Day.

Untraditional BLUGH today. I hate to mess with the groove this early on in my BLUGH life but today’s BLUGH is lacking in format and content. I was traveling this last week and simply did not make the time to BLUGH it up.

There was a lot of WORRY on my mind and so that is why I chose this week’s quote. In my limited experience I have seen that pretty commonly people worry so I wanted to break it down for you with some simple arithmetic.

Horror story + exaggeration of severity - our perception of ability to cope = worry

Now that you know the math, I hope you will realize that worry is an illusion. It’s a waste of energy. Speaking of energy, mine is very limited this week so you get another quote to round out this BLUGH and then we’re done!

That’s the way I look at things - if you focus on the worst case scenario and it happens, you’ve lived it twice.
