The BLUGH: March 22, 2023
“I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant’s faithful one-hundred percent!”
BLUGH DAY! Hope your week is going well.
I consumed a lot of animal content this week. There were, of course, my standard TikToks and Instagrams I watch morning, noon, and night, but I also watched Parrot Confidential (do you guys remember Nature on PBS? 41 seasons strong 🌳), and watched the Oscar winner for best short documentary, The Elephant Whisperers. Also, as I write the BLUGH, I am sitting in a dog cafe.
Sadly, parrots should NOT be pets. They are so sweet and so smart but they bond with you by thinking you are their mate? NO THANK YOU. I may never own a sweet angel parrot but maybe one of these days I can go to that place from Love on the Spectrum (wonderful show, please watch).
Happily, elephants make great wedding officiants and also look beautiful with face paint (watch the documentary!!).
🦦 LEARNING OF THE WEEK: There are many animal personality quizzes available online but Animal In You is my favorite. I have taken it a few times over the years and I am a swantter (otter or swan). What are you? 🦢
PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION
If you know me, you know I LOVE perfume!!! I have not tried these perfumes but I wanted to include these in the BLUGH because I feel like people should KNOW that such a perfume line exists. Zoologist Perfumes is a Canadian perfume company wherein all the perfumes are named after and inspired by animals. In a good way, not a weird way!! They have lots of great sample options if you see something that appeals to you. You can even sample the whole zoo!

BOOK RECOMMENDATION
Hard to find a book with animals where one doesn’t DIE (Looking at you, Where the Red Fern Grows 😭😭😭). Fortunately, the His Dark Materials series exists and it has anthropomorphic polar bears and daemons. What are daemons? A person’s external manifestation in animal form WOWOWOW. This is a young adult fantasy novel series but it is 🔥lit🔥 and I have read all the books through twice because they are amazing.
✨
TIKTOKS
I delete TikTok once a week but one of the things that pulls me back are the animals!!! I hope you love them as much as I do.

Not my parrot
A parrot I met in Colombia. Much like my local laundromat’s parrots, he spoke only Spanish and much like my local laundromat’s parrots, I felt an immediate connection.
