HOLA! I’m starting a new BLUGH series titled: How I BLUGH the BLUGH. It will be a 7-part series in which I break down the format of the BLUGH and how I do what I do. I won’t do all the series’ parts consecutively; I’ll do a part here, a part there. ✨You’ll know it when you see it ✨

PART 1: The Quote

Ever wonder how I choose the quote featured in each week’s BLUGH or why a quote is a hallmark feature of the BLUGH? Wonder no more, enlightenment follows:

I love a good quote! I hear them or read them and then store them in my brain or in my Google Quotes Doc (titled “Les Quotes”). When I use a quote in casual conversation I ALWAYS cite the source because we live in a litigious society and even the dead will sue you. If I hear someone say a quote and they don’t know who said it, I sue them on the spot.

Truly though, here are some ways I find the quote of the week:

1. I gaze around my apartment or whatever setting I find myself in and see what comes to mind. I call this, “Staring into the void”.

2. I think of an author I like and Google quotes from them. This is called, “What else did they say?”.

3. I consult my “Les Quotes” Google Doc. This method is known as, “What did Past Justina think was interesting?”.

4. I look up a quote around the topic of the BLUGH, and hope for the best. This can take some time depending on the obscurity of the topic (looking at you, Silky Anteater BLUGH!). I call this, “I hope someone said something good about this at some point”.

5. I ask ChatGPT to write a quote. I did this only once and I don’t call it anything.

For this week’s quote, I applied method #2 and wow! Leo said some really good stuff! It was hard to choose only one quote.

So that is it! Nothing revolutionary but now you know how I BLUGH one part of the BLUGH!
