The BLUGH: January 18, 2023

Happy BLUGH day to you all and I hope the BLUGH finds you well. Habits are top of mind. I don’t love my all my habits and there are some habits that I greatly desire to implement but just haven’t. Why haven’t I? Why haven’t I started practicing daily or weekly habits that I know for a fact will make me feel better? Am I not worthy of feeling better? Am I not capable of changing my habits? Am I saving the better habits for a future in which I have lots of money, spare time, and a mansion I own? The answers are no, no, and yesnomaybe. So this week I am going to try to hold myself accountable while also answering to the thousands of BLUGH readers. I will strive to do the following on a daily basis and report back next week 🫡.

Go to bed before 10:30 (!!!!)

Write for the BLUGH
Read my fiction and my non-fiction
Can I do it? We’ll see. These are obviously easy and mostly pleasurable things to do. ONE WOULD THINK ONE WOULD JUST DO THEM ON A REGULARLY BASIS THEN WOULDN’T ONE? But alas, I put things off in pursuit of vices such as television and social media. BUT NOT THIS WEEK! MAYBE!
😴 LEARNING FROM THIS WEEK: Vocab alert. Not exactly sure how I’ve lasted this long on planet Earth without knowing of or using the term, syncope (basically, fainting). Fainting is one of my all time favorite hobbies so how could I never have used this word before? Bonus: gelastic syncope. 😴

BOOK RECOMMENDATION
YES I KNOW THIS BOOK IS EVERYWHERE. But this is an endorsement not only for Atomic Habits, but also for the concept of not reading the whole book. TO BE CLEAR: I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. But at the 80% mark or so, I was kind of done. And there are many good books to read. So maybe just put the book down that you can’t finish or skim it and move on to the next great read. Also, maybe just borrow Atomic Habits because Jim has already sold more than 10 mil copies.
