qq 4 u: Are you happy? WAIT DON’T ANSWER BECAUSE IT’S A TRICK QUESTION HAPPINESS IS A MYTH THE STATE OF HAPPINESS IS A FICTION PEDDLED TO US BY CAPITALISM TO DRIVE SPEND AND DISSATISFACTION THE PURSUIT OF THE ELUSIVE CONCEPT OF HAPPINESS WILL DESTROY THE WORLD BOTH FIGURATIVELY AND LITERALLY.

The subject of happiness is a tough one! When the topic of happiness comes up in intellectual circles (into which you KNOW I am trying to insert myself (to promote my improv show)), people get like…unhappy and moody, and ANGRY. Pourquoi? Well, I don’t claim to know pourquoi, but I would imagine it’s because we’re all just a little frustrated. We can’t figure it out. Fortunately, I (with a little help from my friend, Arthur C. Brooks, henceforth known as ACB) are here to let you know that you don’t have to figure anything out. You just have to position yourself to travel in the right direction. You want happiER, not happiness. Also, IT’S OK TO BE SAD. THAT IS LIFE. But happiER is ok too.
But enough of Justina, authoress of the BLUGH, trying to summarize her findings. Please make your way directly to the source. I have compiled a few resources for your viewing/reading/listening pleasure in order of how much time you have:
You have very little time: Watch this clip of ACB talking about how to deal with failures and disappointments.
You have slightly more time: Read one of ACB’s many articles on The Atlantic where he is a frequent contributor.
You have a commute’s worth of time: Listen to this podcast episode (thank you to my friend, Kat, who sent me this!!! 💖💖💖) where ACB is interviewed - also shout out to this podcast, it’s very cool.
You have a lot of time. You decided that if you’re ever going to be happiER that you need to quit your job and so that’s exactly what you did. You’re not sure what’s next, but again, lots of time: Read one of ACB’s many books. His latest was written with Oprah! For those that don’t know, this is who Oprah is.

Most beautiful wedding ever
Want to feel delighted and happiER? I recommend attending a dear friend’s wedding. Truly does wonders for the mood. Here Bryton and I are pictured with our amazing friend, Kelly, owner of Drift in Greenville. She and her wife, Allison, are the most amazing/accomplished/kind/fun couple ever. I do not say this lightly.
